Black Watch Friends:
Regret to announce the recent passing of Norman Cole in Belleville, Ontario.
Norman’s name appears in the Regimental Depot’s roll in March 1958 (squad not identified) and he went to Germany with 1RHC in 1959.
No knowledge of his career post-1970: can anyone help?

COLE, Norman Lester - Entered into rest suddenly on Friday, April 13th, 2012. Norman Cole, of Belleville, at the age of 71. Beloved husband of Mechthild “Mec“ Cole. Loving father of Martina Adams of Manitoba and Linda Cole of Oakville. Predeceased by his parents Norman and Vera Cole. Survived by his many siblings; Walter, Carman, Keith, Tom, Dan, Edith Crooks, Carrie Kelly and Joe Cole. Devoted Opa of Bradley & Tanya Adams and Erika & Karis Cole. He will be ever remembered by his many nieces, nephews and friends. He began his military career in the Blackwatch at the age of 17, and retired after serving 30 years in the Canadian Services as a Peacekeeper. After retiring, Norman loved the interaction with the community during his time as a crossing guard, and will be sadly missed. Funeral Service will be held at the BELLEVILLE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 68 N. Front St. Belleville (613- 968-5080) on Wednesday, April 18th, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. (with visitation two hours prior from 12:00-2:00p.m.). Cremation to follow. As expressions of sympathy donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. Online condolences www.rushnellfamilyservices.com

Norm was posted to CFB Gagetown after his first tour of Germany (Werl), then returned to Germany (Werl) in 1969. In 1970, he moved to CFB Baden-Soellingen as a member of 3 Mech Cdo. His next posting was back to CFB Gagetown in 1976, with the RCR. In 1979, he was posted to CFB Shilo, Manitoba, where he remustered to Transport. His last posting was in 1985, to Toronto. He retired from the military in 1987, and in 1989 moved to Belleville, Ontario.
