Regret to inform you that Herb Francis passed away in Chilliwack on December 29. Herb served with 21 Fd Coy RCE during the liberation of Holland and later with the north Shore Regiment in Canada. He re-enlisted in 1951, serving with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders in Hanover with 1 CHB before transferring to the Watch, where he served in 1 RHC before remustering to the MSE OP trade in the late 1960s. His wife Jessie predeceased him in 2005. He is survived by four sons (Russell, Butch, Rocky and David),daughter Peggy and brother CA. Brother CA Francis lives in Victoria.

Some of you may recall that Herb’s grandson, Captain Jefferson Francis, was killed in action in Afghanistan in July 2007.
