Regret to announce the recent passing of George Maynard in Halifax.

George Albert Maynard
1932-2013


Age 81, Halifax, passed away peacefully at home on September 6, 2013. Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Mary Theresa Maynard.
George was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the P.P.C.L.I and Black Watch. He worked until retirement as a boilermaker with Local 73. George enjoyed carpentry and was an avid outdoorsman with interests in hunting and fishing.
He is survived by sons, David (Joanne), Spry Bay; Robert (Maddie), Herring Cove; Pat (Krista), Spryfield; Mike (Colette), Dover Center, Ont.; daughter, Terry-Ann Escobar (Victor), Calgary, Alta.; grandchildren, Colleen, Caitlin, Jenna, Carley, Ashley and Bryce. He was predeceased by his wife Shirley (Kenney) Maynard.
Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. (477-5601). In keeping with George’s wishes, there will be no formal visitation or service. Interment to be in Oakridge Memory Gardens, Lower Sackville, on Wednesday September 11th, a gathering for family and friends will be held at the family home on McIntosh St. from 5-7 p.m., following the interment. Donations in his memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or Canadian Diabetes Association.
