Charles Alexander MacKay, 68, born in New Glasgow, passed away suddenly on Monday, Feb. 16, 2015 in the Aberdeen Hospital.
He was a son to the late Alvin and Christina (Reekie) MacKay, Foxbrook.
Charles was a former member of the The Black Watch. After leaving the military, he worked various jobs.
He was a jack of all trades working for Naiff Harris for many years. He always enjoyed having company around.
Charles is survived by his children Jason, Edmonton; Krista (Peter), Hillside; Matthew (Monica), Edmonton; their mother Debbie MacKay, Stellarton; grandchildren Marissa MacKinnon; Chelsey MacKay, Hillside; Kelsey MacKay, Pictou; and Joseph Richards, Edmonton; brothers and sisters Alvin MacKay (Claudia), Port Williams; Eileen Turner (Reg), Steam Mills; John Saunders (Alice), Foxbrook; Evva Melvin (Ivan), Hillaton; William Saunders (Alva), New Glasgow; Janet Vance (Richard), Foxbrook. He also leaves behind his best friend and companion, his dog Jake.
Charlie was predeceased by his brothers, David and George.
Cremation has taken place.
The family will receive visitors at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville, on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
His memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday from Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville with the Rev. Charles MacPherson officiating.
Spring burial will be in the MacLeod Cemetery, Foxbrook. Family flowers only. Donations to VON or charity of your choice.
