Regret to announce the recent passing of Percy Grant in Middleton, NS.
Percy served with 1CHB and 1RHC in Germany, Aldershot and Gagetown.
GRANT, Percy Edward, 81, of Cambridge passed away on May 22, 2015 at the Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born on February 14, 1934 he was the son of the late Bertha May (Grant) Allen. Percy joined the Army and served from 1952 - 1973 with the Black Watch. He also worked for 15 years as a Driver at CFB Greenwood. Percy was a Member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #69 since 1973 - serving as President 1981-1982; 2000 - 2006; as the Former Zone Sergeant-of-Arms for two years; had a Life Membership, received a MSM with Palm Leaf and was a Member of the Hank Snow Society. Percy had a love for bingo and darts. Surviving is his son Larry; daughter Sherry Fredericks; step-daughters Patricia (Bud) Ritchie and Carol Snow, brothers Raymond and Merlin; companion Donna Lyons; and her children Carolyn (Terry) Ells, Mervin Lyons; also several grand and great grandchildren. Percy was predeceased by first wife Zelda Grant; second wife Thelma B. (Hines) Ward Grant; brother Russell Allen, and step-grandson Rodney Jordan Ritchie. As per his request cremation has taken place. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 7:00p.m. - 9:00p.m. in the Berwick Funeral Chapel where a Memorial Service and a Legion Service will be held on Thursday, May 28 at 11a.m. Pastor Christina Bigelow officiating, reception to follow. Interment in the Berwick Cemetery. Donations in Percy's memory may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #69, the Grand View Manor or a charity of one's choice.
