Black Watch & RCR friends:
Regret to report the passing of Burt Bowers on 15 December 2015 in Edmonton.
Burt joined the Canadian Army in 1958 and was posted to 1st Battalion RHC in Camp Aldershot on graduation from Depot. He accompanied 1RHC to Germany in 1959 where he decisively demonstrated his hockey prowess, initially as a forward and later tending goal for the Battalion’s championship teams in Germany and New Brunswick.
In 1970 he re-badged 2RCR and accompanied the battalion to Cyprus in 1973. On return from Cyprus in 1974 he was posted to Recruit School in Cornwallis. From there he returned to Regimental Duty in Germany with 3RCR (3 Mech?) and from there to 1RCR in London where he retired.
Burt was a great athlete, a dedicated soldier, and a credit to each of the regiments he served.
His obit appears in yesterday’s Halifax Chronicle Herald:

With thanks to Harold Fraser, Laurie Dirks and Ray MacDonald for the foregoing.
