It is with sadness that I share with you the news that fellow TBWA Member and WW2 Veteran Russell Sanderson passed away peacefully in St Peter’s Hospital in Hamilton on Wednesday.
Russell was better known to his friends as Sandy. He was a staunch supporter of the Regimental Family all his life as a Member of not only our Association but also a long time Member of the MBWA. Wherever he travelled he promoted the Black Watch be it within Canada or on his many trips to Holland.
Sandy was a great raconteur of his life experiences not only with the Regiment but also his time with the OPP in Northern Ontario after the war. His many friends both in Canada and the Netherlands will miss him greatly.
Russell’s funeral will take place at Noon this Saturday, February 13 in the Patterson Funeral Home located at 6062 Main Street, Niagara Falls. If you plan to attend Sandy’s celebration of life, Blazer, Grays with Balmoral and full medals would be very appropriate.

SANDERSON, Russell Eugene 'Sandy' - Passed away with his loving family by his side at St. Peter's Hospital in Hamilton on February 10, 2016 at the age of 90. Cherished husband of Marie Sanderson, father of Gary and Marta and step-father of Tony (Jessica), Paul (Edyta) and Maria (Dustin). Dear grandpa of Kyler and Kieran and great-grandfather of Russell. He will be sadly missed by his extended family in both Canada and The Netherlands. Mr. Sanderson was predeceased by his first wife Rose Marie. Friends are invited to call at the PATTERSON FUNERAL HOME, 6062 Main St. visiting Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service in celebration of his life will be held Saturday at 12 pm at the funeral home, with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery.
