Duncan Alexander MacDonald
1946 - 2016
Duncan Alexander MacDonald of Bathurst, passed away at the age of 70, on Sunday, March 6, 2016 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst.
Born in Kouchibouguac, he was the son of the late Alexander and Mary (Kelly) MacDonald.
Duncan started training in April 1964 at the Black Watch Depot, Camp Gagetown, N.B. and served until 1970 when the Black Watch was removed from the active roll of the Canadian Army. He then worked for Service New Brunswick until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his pal, Vernon. Duncan also spent many hours in his workshop doing wood carving.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Joan Blanchard and step-daughter, Julie Touchie (Gregg) of Moncton; three sisters: Jessie, Frances and Vivian; two brothers: Vince and Perley and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by four sisters: Donna Beth, Thelma, Vera Marion and Florence and two brothers: Steven and Bill.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 from 2 to 4 pm at Elhatton Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com) 187 St. George St., Bathurst, with a reception to follow at 4 pm at the Funeral Home Chapel. There will be a legion service at 3 pm Wednesday.
Donations in memory of Duncan may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donor's choice.
