Jackie served with our First Battalion in Aldershot, Germany, Gagetown and Cyprus.

John "Jackie" Lawrence Timmons
1933-2016
The death of John "Jackie" Timmons occurred on August 22nd, 2016 at Orchard View Long Term Care. Born March 26th 1933, he was the son of the late Joseph and Flora (McMullin) Timmons and husband to the late Charlotte (Madore) Timmons.
Jackie is survived by his children, John Timmons (Elizabeth) of Swan Creek, NB and Elizabeth Barnes (David) of Truro, NS; grandchildren, Consuelo Timmons, Charlene Timmons, Michael Barnes and Jamie Barnes; great-grandchildren, Alainna Pledwell, Leliana Gorey, Braydon Pledwell, Brooklyn Barnes and Mya Barnes; sisters, Theresa McNeil, Ethel MacMillan, Margaret McNeil and Frances Melanson all of Ontario, Rosalie MacDonald of Glace Bay, Mary Hannah and Audrey Underhill both of Ontario; brothers, Harvey Timmons of Nova Scotia, Charles "Timmy" Timmons and James Bernard "JB" Timmons, both of Ontario.
He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Charlotte; his sister, Betty Brewer; brothers, Reggie, Malcolm, Myles, Gregory and Jude Timmons
Jackie served in the Canadian Military from the early 1950s to 1980. He was posted to CFB Gagetown from ’62–’74 and again from ’79-’80 as well as being posted to Germany twice. He spent 21 months sea duty on the HMCS Ottawa in Halifax from ’74-’76 and was the Canex Manager of CFS Shelburn from ’76-’79. In 1980 he retired from the military and moved with his wife, Charlotte to Glace Bay, NS and became the Bar Manger for the Glace Bay Legion until he retired. He was a proud member of the Black Watch Regiment and Special Duties Cyprus. After the death of his wife, Jackie moved in 2010 to Swan Creek to be closer to family.
There will be no visitation or service by request. Interment will take place in Glace Bay at a later date. For those who wish, donations in memory of Jackie may be made to the Alzheimer Society. Oromocto Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
