GOLEMIEC, John Thomas - (April 16, 1935 - July 8, 2017)

A proud member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Paul the Apostle.

Born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia on April 16, 1935. John was in the Military for 24 years, a proud member of the Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment). He was a graduate of the Royal Military College, Kingston, Ontario.

Following his military career he worked for Correctional Services Canada as a Living Unit Officer (Joyceville Institution), instructor (Staff College) and Correctional Supervisor (Frontenac Institution).

NEMO ME IMPUNE LACESSIT

JT was our squad commander in 149 squad in 1964. He was very well liked. I was able to speak to him one day at CFB Edmonton and I was surprised that he remembered me and all the guys from 149 squad as he asked me about them all. A few years ago I was able to track him down in Ontario and as we spoke over the phone I soon learned that his memory was as sharp as ever. We spoke for quite a long time and he was very thankful that we all remembered him. Why wouldn't we, he was such a large part in developing us as soldiers of the Black Watch
