Black Watch friends:
Regret to report that Dave Weir passed away last week in Oromocto.
Dave served with our 2nd Battalion from about 1965 in Gagetown and Cyprus, mostly in ‘B’ Company. He re-badged 2RCR in 1970.

David Weir
1947-2018

Died unexpectedly on July 30, 2018. David is survived by his loving wife Linda Barkhouse Weir of Oromocto, NB, son Jason Weir (Natalie) Fredericton, NB, his devoted daughter Leeanne Weir at home, and four grandchildren Ethan, Laura, Alexis, and Sarah Weir whom he loved so much. Brothers Lawrence Weir (Thelma) Hampton, NB, Paul Weir (Debbie) Newport, NS, Keith Weir (Anne) Malagash, NS, Brother-in-law Bill Barkhouse (Linda) Port Credit, ON and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother Irvin Weir, and parents Robert Weir and Laura Smith, and his father and mother-in-law Roy and Rita Barkhouse.
David served with the Black Watch Second Battalion, and 2RCR. He retired as a Warrant Officer. After his service he worked at Base Supply and Maintenance Company at CFB Gagetown.
David was a devout Roman Catholic, and was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Oromocto, and St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Lincoln.
David will be missed so much, especially by his grandchildren who always greeted him with "I love you GranDad."
The family wishes to acknowledge the excellent care David received from the OSI Clinic in Fredericton especially Dr. Anthony Njoku, and Dr. Brian J. Reid.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in David’s memory to St. Francis of Assisi Parish Building Fund.
Cremation has taken place, and a funeral mass will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Parish Lincoln, NB on Wednesday August 8, 2018 at 11am. Burial will take place at a later date in St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery, Oromocto.
