Black Watch and RCR Friends:
Regret to report the passing of Mickey McLean last week in Kentville.
Mickey served with our 1st Battalion before re-badging to 2RCR in 1970.
Note: Memorial service on Tuesday in Kentville.

Malcolm Robert McLean
1935-2018


Malcolm Robert "Mickey" McLean - age 83, of Centreville, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2018 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Ambrose, (Dartmouth), and Gertrude (O’Conner) McLean (Jacquet River, N. Mickey joined the Canada Armed Forces in June of 1952 and proudly served for a total of 30 years with The Royal Scots of Canada, The Black Watch (RHR) of Canada and The West Nova Scotia Regiment where he retired as a Warrant Officer. He played important roles in the United Nations Peacekeeping force and NATO. He was one of the original founding members to establish the Black Watch Reunions in Kentville. He enjoyed being surrounded by his family, fishing on the lake, playing with his techie gadgets, woodworking, and many other crafts. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Stella (Nelson); daughters, Susan (Bob) Shaw, Eastern Passage; Beverly (Amadeo Moreno) Toronto; Cindy (Roland) Beaman, Cambridge; son, Michael (Sharon Watton), Tupper Lake; sisters, Doris (George) Patterson, Oromocto; Dianna Westhaver, Sheet Harbour; sister-in-law, Edith McLean, Bedford; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister; Josephine "Tootie"; brother, James "Jimmy"; brother-in-law, Leslie Westhaver and nephew, Vernon McLean. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation, by request. A celebration of Mickey’s life will take place at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 27, 2018 in the Meadowview Community Centre, 8464 Brooklyn Street, Kentville. Burial will take place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Donations in memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
