Regret to report the passing of Pete Denny and his wife, Irene, in the days before last Christmas.
Pete was Quartermaster for our 1st Battalion in Gagetown and Cyprus during the late 1960s.

Note memorial service next Monday in Ottawa/Orleans.

Irene and Peter DENNY

Irene Denny passed the morning of December 21, 2018 after a short illness. Across town the same morning, Peter Denny's condition changed to palliative following a lengthy illness. He passed in the early morning hours of Christmas Eve. They are survived by their two sons Steven and Michael and granddaughter Jordan. In her younger years, Irene worked for the research department at Johnson and Johnson Pharmaceuticals in Montréal where she met a young Military officer on a blind date. A few months later Pete called and caught Irene off-guard and she accepted an invitation to a Military Ball. That evening apparently Pete looked rather handsome in full dress uniform with medals and they began dating. Irene volunteered her time at local elementary schools, later working for Welcome Wagon greeting newcomers to Orleans. She could also be found volunteering for various political campaigns at all levels of government. Peter grew up in both England and Canada, moving back and forth between the two. He followed his boyhood dream of becoming a soldier and enlisted as in Rifleman in the Canadian Army. Peter was on the front line as the Korean War started to slow down in 1953, later serving on UN Peacekeeping missions and becoming a commissioned officer with over 37.5 years of service when he retired as a Lieutenant-Colonel. They had been married for over 55 years, most of that living in Ottawa, enjoying some golf and international travel together once Peter retired. Mom and Dad got to spend this past Christmas together again exploring somewhere they'd never seen before. Family and friends may pay their respects at the Kelly Funeral Home –Orleans

Monday January 21, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a reception in memory of Peter and Irene Denny. A private memorial service will be held in the spring.
