Black Watch friends:
Regret to report the passing of Sach Cormier last week in Fredericton.
Sach was a member of 2nd Battalion’s ‘B’ Company when I was posted into the unit in Aldershot in early 1957, and he remained with ‘B’ Coy when we moved to Gagetown in 1958, to Germany in 1962, back to Gagetown in 1965, and to Cyprus in 1966. He probably went to Cyprus with 2RHC, still with ‘B’ Coy, in 1969 but I’m not certain.
Sach was a good soldier and a popular member of 2nd Battalion.

Donald Joseph Cormier
1932-2019
It is with great sadness that the family of Donald Cormier Sr. announces his passing on January 31, 2019, at the York Care Centre, in Fredericton, N.B. He was the son of the late Edgar and Lillian Cormier, and husband to the late Edna (LeBlanc) Cormier, who passed away in August, 2013. Donald was born on February 26, 1932, in Moncton, N.B.

He leaves behind to mourn his son Donald of Fredericton, NB; a brother Bill Cormier of Montreal, QC; sisters May Cormier of Montreal, QC, Sandra Randall of Moncton, NB, and Joanne Birmingham of Moncton, NB; numerous nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends. In addition to his parents and spouse, Donald was predeceased by his daughter Jeanie Christie in February, 2018 and son-in-law Richard "Joe" Christie in August, 2018.

Donald had worked as a forklift operator and labourer at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital and was a proud member of the Black Watch as well as a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

We will never be able to thank the staff of Tower 3, at the York Care Centre, enough for the kind, compassionate and professional care you gave Donald. To you Tamsen Arnold, Barb Lovean, Barb Kernighan and Padre Norm, thank you for having loved him the way you did.

A visitation will be held at the Oromocto Funeral Home on Tuesday, Feb 5, 2019, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Knights of Columbus will hold prayers at 6:45 PM, followed by a Black Watch tribute at 7:00 PM. A funeral service will take place at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at 11:00 AM, with a reception to follow in the church hall. Donations in Donald’s name may be made to the York Care Foundation.
