Black Watch & RCR friends:

Regret to report that Dan Hank passed away yesterday in Fredericton, NB.

Dan was one of the originals in 2nd Canadian Highland Battalion and served in Korea with ‘C’ Company, 2RHC. He remained with 2RHC when the unit returned to Camp Aldershot, then moved to Camp Gagetown, then to Fort St. Louis, then back to Gagetown, and finally to Cyprus. He re-badged 2RCR in 1970 and continued to serve with The RCR until his retirement from the CAF.

Daniel Hank
1926-2019

Daniel Hank was born on November 8, 1926 in Minsk, Poland, passed away quietly on June 23, 2019 at the DVA Unit, Fredericton, NB. Dan was the son of the late Henry and Emma (Brenner) Hank
At the age of two years old, Dan’s family immigrated to Canada and he was raised in Bluffton, Alberta. In his younger years he worked in the oil fields of Alberta. He served five years in the Militia during WW II, had 25 years of military service with the Black Watch and 2RCR and was a Korean War Vet. Also, he was an active member of the Korean Veteran’s Association in Innisfail, Alberta.
Survived by his wife June (Downey) Hank of Geary,NB; two daughters, Kitca Carr (Gary) of Geary, NB and Wanda Abel (Dennis) of Sechelt, BC; two sons, Danny Hank (Candace) of Geary, NB and Raymond Hank (Min Zhang) of Kelowna, BC; sisters, Ruth Hildebrand (Roy) of Surrey BC, Evelyn Burzminski; as well as several nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by grandchildren, Justin Hank (Kelsey), Natasha Hank, Duska Frink (Scott), Rachelle McKee (Tristan), Kelly Routh; and great-grandchildren Londyn Frink, Ryker Frink, Ellie Routh, Jase Routh.
He was predeceased by his parents; brothers Charles, Erwin, Ray; sister Ida; as well as several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and cousins.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of the DVA Unit in Fredericton, NB for the great care given to Dan while in their care.
Visitation will be held at the Geary Baptist Church on Wednesday, June 26th, 2019 from 1pm to 2pm. The funeral service will follow immediately after at the Geary Baptist Church on Wednesday, 26th, 2019 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Robert Weaver officiating. Interment will follow in the Oromocto Pioneer Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes in Dan's name may be made to the Geary Baptist Church or to a charity of the donor's choice.
