Dad passed away with his family by his side at the Halifax Infirmary on January 12, 2022. He was 80 years old. Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Joseph Walker and Edith, stepmother Grace Walker.
He was a man who loved the simple things in life, enjoyed his family, and cherished the love of his life, Faye. He had a love for animals and had many pets over the years. He had a strong personality and a fantastic sense of humor. For those who got it, he was hysterical.
Wally proudly served 30 years in the Canadian Armed Forces. He started his career with the Black Watch 2nd Battalion. From there he went to The Royal Canadian Regiment (RCR) and ended his career with the Civil Engineers. Throughout his military career, he served four peacekeeping tours and a deployment to Germany. Following his military career, he also worked at Dalhousie University for 15 years.
Wally was a member of the Mason’s. He loved archery and communicating by CB radio. He also had various interests from historic events to meteorology.
Wally is survived by his son, Jeffrey (Lisa) Walker; daughter Carol-Anne (James) Clarke and his granddaughters, Rachel and Sydney. He is also survived by his brother Wayne and stepbrother, Fred.
He is predeceased by his loving wife of 54 years, Faye. He was also predeceased by his sister, Betty and stepbrother, John.
Cremation has taken place. A service will be held at a later date as well as a combined burial for both Wally and Faye at St. James Anglican Church, Boutilier’s Point, NS.
We would like to thank the palliative care team and the ER staff at Halifax Infirmary. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the SPCA in his memory.
