It is with deep regret that I must inform you that Jim passed away peacefully last evening in the E W Bickle Centre for Complex Continuing Care in Toronto. Jim had been fighting Pulmonary Thrombosis but alas, he lost the fight.

Jim was a great friend and long term member of the TBWA. His links with the Regimental Family go back to his Father who served in the 73rd Battalion and who was one of the five members of that Battalion who attended their final reunion dinner in the late '70's.

As a young man of seventeen, Jim served in Bleury Street himself as a Signals Instructor in 1945. This occurred while he was waiting for his posting to Royal Roads in BC for Naval Officer Training. However, his stint as a Signals Instructor and a potential Naval Officer came to a quick close in June of 1945 with the end of the war. As family resources were limited, with the withdrawal of the Royal Roads invitation, so went Jim's university education with the suggestion by his Father that he better get a job. Jim therefore joined the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce as a junior clerk and eventually retired as a Senior VP of that same institution.

However, many of us in the TBWA will not remember Jim as any of the personas listed above but instead as a tremendous supporter of this Association, our Pipes and Drums, the Red Hackle Dinners and of late the annual BBQ's - BUT most of all, many of us will remember him as a friend and we will miss him.

his funeral will take place at 1100 hours on February 16 at Humphrey's Funeral Home located at 1403 Bayview Avenue.

Jim's obituary will appear in both the Toronto Star and the Globe and Mail starting on February 12/11.

If you are considering attending the service, the wearing of Blazer and Greys with Balmoral would be appropriate or business suit with Regimental Tie.
