Retired vets 14 Years, 6 Months ago
Caught this news article on CTV the other night and was saddened to see the situation. The man the article is about was in the Black Watch during my time with the 1st. Some of you may remember him. Have a look but there's a short commercial before the news item.

I live in Coquitlam but work in Vancouver, in the Downtown East Side. It is a very depressing part of the City. Many look down on the people there but each of them have a story and some are very sad to hear. I know a number of Vets myself who call the DTES their home and many of them want out. I had been in contact with the DVA myself about Veterans being homeless and this is not called for. We must take care of our Men and Women who took care of us, who went to bat for us and who gave us freedom. I'm not sure if it was me who did it but now the DVA does have a place where they can get help and it is located at Veterans Manor on Alexander Street. I have sent a few there already and one of them came back to me and gave me a hug, thanking me for telling him. He said he was offered services that he didn't know about. Many will not seek the help from DVA due to the fear of being turned down or it might be pride. If I see our Family member, I will help him.

His last name is Carmichael but I'm not sure of his first name. But there is a Jed Carmichael who lives in Ontario and married to my sister. Not the same person.
