Regret to report the passing of Jack Jacquard last November in Alberta.
Jack served in both of our Regular Force Black Watch RHC battalions – initially with Second Battalion in Camp Gagetown and Germany and then with First Battalion in Gagetown and Cyprus. The obituary below appeared in the Canadian Airborne Regiment’s newsletter.

Jack passed away after a brief battle with cancer at the age of 83 years. Jack was born in Quinan, NS, he was a son of the late John and Margaret Jacquard. Jack was a retired member of the Canadian Army and served proudly with several units, including 84th Independent Field Battery (Royal Canadian Artillery), The Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment of Canada), Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, The Canadian Airborne Regiment and the Loyal Edmonton Regiment. After he retired, he loved to fish, and camp, especially at the Blueberry Hill RV Park in Athabasca. After a stroke in 2019 he became a resident at Kensington Shepherds Care where he was well looked after by the staff there.
He is survived by children, Keith Jacquard (Janice), Kevin Jacquard (Leslie Applegate), AIRBORNE SOCIAL CLUB NORTHTOWN PO, BOX 71034 9308 - 137 AVENUE EDMONTON, ALBERTA T5E 6J8 FEBRUARY 2023 and Sue Jacquard. Grandchildren Douglas (Danita), Cassandre (Jessie), Johann, Tyler, William, Thomas, Troy and Marcus, great grandchildren Deakin, Kyla, Suri, Chael and Nate. Siblings, Pauline Cottreau, Jenny Cottreau, Geraldine Sweeney, Zelphie-Ann Surette (Paul), Roy Jacquard (Beth), Danny Jacquard (Ruth), Betty Muise (Raymond), and Genevive Neary (John).
Aside from his parents Jack was predeceased by his loving wife Nancy in July 2021. A Celebration of life and interment was held November 18, 2022, Edmonton.
