Regret to notify you of the recent passing of Leo Pitts who served with RHC in Aldershot, Gagetown and Germany, and with 2RCR in Gagetown.

PITTS, LEO MARTIN - 1934- 2009 - Leo Pitts, 75, born in New Glasgow, N.S., passed away peacefully in his sleep, after a short illness of cancer, at the Moncton Hospital on July 31, 2009. He is survived by his loving common law wife, Simonne Landry; his four sons Lee (Moncton), Tony (Irene, Tabusintac) Brian (Cathy, Australia) Donald (Elaine, Edmonton, Alberta); step-children Danny (Cindy, Ontario), Suzanne and Joanne (Moncton) and a sister Martina (New Glasgow); four grand-daughters, two step grand-daughters; six step-grandsons and numerous great grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his parents (Leander and Agnes nee Lavangie) and five brothers and a sister, and ex wife Barbara (Hiltz). He served in the Canadian Armed Forces from 1951-1976 with the Black Watch and the RCR in Aldershot, N.S., Iserlohn, W. Germany and Gagetown, N.B. He moved to Moncton in 1983 and worked with the Corps of Commissionaires until his retirement. He was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #54, where he was Sgt. at Arms for the past few years. His body was donated to the school of medicine at Dalhousie University as per his last wish. A memorial service in remembrance of him will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #54 in Sunnybrae on the 20th of August 2009 at 1pm for all who wish to attend. In lieu of flowers it is requested that a donation be made to either the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #54 or the Friends of the Moncton City Hospital.
