1931 - 2010. Passed peacefully away at home in Botwood, Austin Ralph Picco (CD2), at the age of 78. A proud member of the Canadian Forces of 42 years. Serving with the Black Watch (RHR), Royal Canadian Regiment (RCR) and Canadian Rangers, being deployed to Werl, Germany and veteran of two United Nations tours (Cyprus). Life member of the Royal Canadian Legion and an active member of the Army Cadet program. He proudly established a cadet unit in English Harbour West. Not only serving his country, but his community as a 22 year member of the Lions Club. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his loving wife: Ivy; daughters: Mary (Bob Williams), St. John's, NL, Anna (Mike Ward), Lincoln, NB, Hazel (Cam Giles), Toronto, ON, Dee Dee, St. John's, NL, Dena (Shawn Drakes), St. John's, NL; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; loving sisters: Mary Watts, Trenton, ON, Hazel Churchill, Portugal Cove, NL, and brother: Tim (Mary), Silvin Lake, AB, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The funeral service was held on Sunday July 25 at 2:00 pm at St. Thomas Anglican Church, English Harbour West. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery, English Harbour West. Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to Hynes' Coast of Bays Funeral Home, St. Alban's.
