Harry Charles Philpitt obituary
Philpitt, Warrant Officer (Ret'd) Harry Charles born in Eastern Passage, NS, travelling abroad throughout his Military career and living most recently on the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia.

On Friday, September 13, 2024 at the age of 77, far before we were ready, we lost a husband, father, grand father, great grand father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend after a brief illness, following a Stroke he suffered on Sunday, August 18th.

Harry enlisted in the Black Watch Royal Highland Regiment of Canada in CFB Gagetown, NB in 1964. He spent many weekends hitchhiking back and forth between Gagetown and his home town of Eastern Passage. In 1967 he married his sweetheart, Linda and they settled in the PMQ's in Gagetown. After the Black Watch was disbanded in 1970, Harry became part of the 2nd Battalion Royal Canadian Regiment. CFB Gagetown was home until he remustered, becoming a Vehicle Technician with the Royal Canadian Electrical & Mechanical Engineers (RCEME, REME, LEME, EME), posted to 4 Service Battalion, Lahr Germany, in 1977 and then in 1978 he went to HQ & Sigs. In 1981 he was posted to CFS Shelburne, NS where he was promoted to MCpl. In 1984 a move to Base Maintenance, Willow Park in Halifax had Harry promoted to Sgt. Another positing to Lahr, Germany for 1988 & 1989 then back to Halifax as Base Maintenance Supervisor until retiring in 1990. Retirement didn't last long as his enrollment in the Supplementary Ready Reserves wasn't enough for him, so he enlisted again, as a Reservist, spending another 10 years in uniform. Harry also spent many summers working at the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo as Backstage Coordinator.

Harry always wanted to help others. He loved people & animals which had him volunteering with many organizations over the years including Meals on Wheels, the Knights of Columbus, St Philip Neri Catholic Church, the Royal Canadian Army Cadets, the Birches and the Atlantic Canadian Dachshund Rescue.

Harry leaves behind his wife Linda of 56 years, daughters Christina & Lynn (David), grandchildren, Ryan (Andrea), Katrina, Gregory (Leah), Kara (Percy), Emma (Corey) and Erica, 18 great- grandchildren with a 19th on the way that he was so happy about, brother William 'Bill', sister Mildred 'Sis' and countless other family and friends.

Cremation has taken place. Please join us for A Celebration of Life at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 1570 Shore Road, Eastern Passage, NS on Friday, September 27th at 11am with burial immediately following at 1485 Caldwell Road. Reception will be 12pm to 3pm at the Lions Club, 65 Hornes Road, Eastern Passage.
