On 08 February 2011 Gerry was transferred to The West Island Palliative Care unit. Cancer had spread to most parts of his body. A few short days later, on 12 Feb, he passed away.

To quote a good friend of his "Gerry not only enjoyed life but excelled at being a wonderful person with his family in the Black Watch and friends from Air Canada."

No arrangements have been made as of yet but there is a get together in tribute to Gerry on 25 Feb, 1500hrs, at Jack Astors at 3051 Sources Boulevard, Dorval, Quebec.

As Gerry himself would say, come and have a few "wets".

Today we lost a good friend.I will not forget thet trip to Pictou in '73

Wish we both could have made it however we did have a toast to a friend. I've known Gerry since I first joined the Watch in '76. He's always been a friend - that was his way. Sherry
