Black Watch Friends:

Regret to announce the passing of yet another member of our Black Watch Family. Don served mainly with 2nd Battalion in Gagetown and Germany

The passing of Donald Joseph “Don” Dort, husband of Areta (Keddy) Dort of Fredericton, NB occurred on November 23, 2012 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton. Born in Halifax, NS on February 26, 1939 he was a son of the late Stanley Dobson and Isabel Dort. Don was a licensed contractor, member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #15 Marysville, NB and enjoyed playing in the dart club. He was a former member of the Canadian Army, Black Watch serving around the world, including Germany, Iran and Egypt.

In addition to his wife of 42 years, Don is survived by his children, Danny, Clint, Darcy, Brittany, Deborah, David, Dawn Marie, Donald Jr., and Sherry; grandson, Shaun (Elaina) and their two children, Trina and Cadence; grandchildren, Haylie, Faith, Evangeline, Joseph, Emma, Austin and seven other grandchildren; two great-children; brothers, Robert, Fred, Jim and Howard; sisters, Madeline, Lorraine, Mary, Sylvia, Marie, Carrie and Sandy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 from 7-9 pm. A Memorial Service will be held at White’s Family Funeral Home in Kentville, NS on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 2 pm. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences can be offered through www.yorkfh.com
