Regret to report that “Bubbles” Savoury passed away recently in Port aux Basques.

Bubbles served with 1st Battalion in Aldershot and Germany and was a member of the unit boxing team. He was released from the Army on medical grounds following a traffic accident while he was home in NL on compassionate leave from Germany.

(March 15, 1938 - January 13, 2013)


It is with great sadness that the family of the late Ulrick Robert Savoury (Bubbles) announces his passing on Sunday January 13, at Dr. Charles L. Legrow Health Center at the age of 74 years. Born at Port aux Basques Ulrick was the son of the late George and Julia Savoury. He was also predeceased by his daughter Jacqueline, mother and father-in-law Edgar and Maude LeRiche, brothers Thomas, Louis, George, Albert, sisters Lillian Buchanan, Clarice Nash, brother-in-laws Howard LeRiche, Bud Buchanan, Garfield Nash. He leaves to mourn with many fond and precious memories his loving family; loving and devoted wife Joan of 49 years, children Rick (Valentina) Port aux Basques, Loretta Savoury Rowe Pasadena, Krista (Jeremy) Port aux Basques, grandchildren Leeann, Tyler, Dylan, Travis, Matthew, special sister Ada McCann Toronto, brother-in-law Ralph (Ruth) LeRiche Port aux Basques, sister-in-laws Bernice (Dennis) Taverner Cape Ray, Florence (John) Foote, Mary LeRiche, Winnie Savoury all of Port aux Basques, and a large circle of nieces, nephews and many friends. Visitation took place on Monday and Tuesday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. at East Haven Funeral Home. Funeral service took place on Wednesday January 16, 2 PM at St. James Anglican Church, Channel officiated by Rev. Hannah Dicks. Interment followed at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill. Funeral arrangements were in the care of East Haven Funeral Home, Port aux Basques 695-2300 www.easthavenfuneralhome.com
