Black Watch Friends:

Regret to announce the passing of Lt Col (retired) John Seed Edmondson on 5 January 2013.

John was twice wounded with the SSR during WWII, at Dieppe and the Falaise Gap. Following WWII he returned to his pre-war regiment, the PPCLI and was attached to the Seaforth Highlanders as AT&T officer. Circa 1953 he was posted to 1CHB and the next year became Second-in-Command of 1RHC.

Obituary for John Seed Edmondson
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lt Col (retired) John Seed Edmondson on 5 Jan 2013 at the age of 93. John was born in Estevan Sask. He was a WW II veteran and during the war years John served with the South Saskatchewan Regiment. He participated in the Dieppe Raid of 1942 as well as the Normandy Campaign of 1944. Pre-war John served with the PPCLI, post war with RHR Black Watch of Canada and served his country with honour until his retirement in 1971. He is survived by sons Jack and Douglas and daughter Dianne. He leaves seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren and numerous other family and friends.
A memorial to celebrate John's life will be held at Glen Oaks Memorial Garden Saturday Jan 12 at 1:00pm. It was John's wish to buried next to his wife Louise in Victoria BC. A grave side service will be held in Victoria at a future date.
