He served with 2nd Battalion in Cyprus (1966) as a cook in Reconnaissance Platoon.

1933-2013
Miramichi - Mr. Robert Archibald Searle, husband of Elizabeth (Betty) Searle, of the North Black River Road, Black River Bridge, passed away at the Moncton City Hospital, on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at the age of 79.
Born in Chatham, on May 31, 1933, he was the son of the late Clarence and Clara (Young) Searle. He was a retired member of the Canadian Armed Forces (Cdn Army) and was a cook by profession. He joined the military in 1958 and served in B.C., Gagetown, N.B. and Germany. Following his military career he served in the Corps of commissionaires until his retirement in 1993 to Black River Bridge. He was a member of Carmel United Church, Napan; a Peacekeeper, serving in Cyprus in 1966; a member of the Cdn. Peacekeepers Assoc.; a member of Branch # 3, Royal Canadian Legion, Miramichi.
As much as he enjoyed time with his family, he enjoyed the outdoors fishing and growing the most spectacular garden for many miles around.
He is survived by his wife, the former Elizabeth (Betty) MacRae; two daughters, Sandra Jean Hancox (Brent), of Toronto, Ont. and Donna Pitre (Maurice), of Fredericton; one son, Ralph Searle (Donna), of Fredericton; two grandchildren, Matthew R. and Scott A. Searle; two sisters, Ella MacDonald, of Sackville and Edythe Dickson, of Napan; one brother, Bruce Searle (Ruby), of Napan.
He will be remembered for handing out poppies on the Remembrance Sunday at St. Stephen’s United Church. Each year for the past number of years he has been an honored guest at Bayside School for Remembrance week.
Visiting will be at Adams Funeral home Ltd., 140 King St., on Saturday, from 7-9 pm and Sunday, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held from St. Stephen’s United Church, Black River Bridge, on Monday, January 21, 2013, at 2 pm. Interment will be in the Black River Community Cemetery, later in the spring.
Please note, members of Branch # 3, Royal Canadian Legion are asked to assemble at the funeral home on Sunday evening, at 7:30 pm, for a Veterans’ Service.
