WILNEFF, Miles E. 11 Years, 8 Months ago
Born In: Tancook Island
Born: December 29th, 1947
Passed on: December 31st, 2012
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Miles E. Wilneff at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, on Dec. 31, 2012, with his family by his side, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
A resident of Birch Grove, Miles was born on Tancook Island, son of Gene (Levy) and the late Joseph Wilneff.
Miles was a carpenter by trade, working in Regina, Ontario and Nova Scotia, until a work related accident ended his career.
Miles was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 5, having served with the Canadian Army in Gagetown, also served in Cyprus with Canadian Peacekeepers and Black Watch. He was a member of Army Navy Air Force Unit 246 of Glace Bay. He was an avid boater, spending many hours cruising Cape Breton waters and doing some recreational fishing along the way. Another passion was shining up his ‘64 Ford Fairlaine coupe and taking it for a run.
Miles is survived by his wife and best friend, Sandra (McVicar); sons, John Joseph ‘J.J.’ (Blair Shaw), Petawawa and Scott (Michelle), B.C. He is also survived by his mother, Gene, Glace Bay; brothers, Gary (Pauline), Sydney, Greg (Marilyn), Kentucky, Jim (Charlene), Regina; sisters, Sandra (Willie) Koza, Ontario, Carol (Grant) MacLean, Glace Bay, Margo, Wendy (Gary) Gardiner, Tanya (Stuart Cathcart), all of Glace Bay.
As per his request, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay. A celebration of Miles life will be held at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, Rev. Allan MacLellan officiating. Burial in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens at a later date.
Online condolences may be forwarded to the family at www.pattenfuneralhome.com
