Arthur Frederick Nicholson
(August 13, 1931 - July 26, 2014)
Age 82.
Arthur passed away peacefully at the Victoria General hospital in Halifax on July 26, 2014. Born in Halifax on August 13, 1931 to the late Margaret and George Nicholson. He is survived by the love of his life, Virginia (Cogswell). They were married on June 18, 1955 at St. James Anglican Church, Halifax. Arthur served in the Black Watch Royal Highland Regiment of Canada in Peacekeeping in Germany from 1951-1953. Arthur remained a committed member of the Black Watch Society until his passing.
Arthur and Virginia raised four children and enjoyed many loving years together. Arthur was a master carpenter, he took great pride in his work and along with his brother Kenny, designed and built many fine homes in Brookside and Prospect area. Arthur had many interests including; playing guitar and singing, mechanics, boating, fishing, camping, and sharing precious time with his family. Arthur was a great provider and always put his family first.
Loving father to his children Jane (Richard) Boutilier, Michael (Ruth), Patrick (Janet), Tanya (Jerome) Hiltz. Grand children, Corey (Brianna), Christy and Leah Boutilier, Jacob (Cassie), Tia and Rachel Hiltz, Melissa and Carla Nicholson, and Ashley Asselstine. Great grandchildren, Caitlyn, Rio, Raina, Ramona, Emmeline, Caitlyn and Bryson. Also survived by many nieces and nephews; by sister Joan (Frank) Ripley and brothers John (Margie), Edward (Joan) and Kenneth (Doreen). Predeceased by 12 brothers and sisters. Arthur was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed by his wife and family.

Service will be held at St. James Anglican Church, Armdale Rotary at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 31, 2014, Rev. Rachel Parker officiating. Celebration of life will immediately follow at the Prospect Road Community Centre, 2141 Prospect Road, Hatchet Lake, NS. Family burial to follow at a later date in Sunrise Burial Park, 2025 Prospect Road; family flowers only. Donations can be made to The Alzheimer’s Society or charity of choice
