Regret to report that Wayne Cardinal passes away yesterday in Fredericton, NB.
Wayne was a long time member of our 2nd Battalion and served with the unit in Gagetown, Germany and Cyprus – mostly in B Company and Pioneer Platoon. He re-badged 2RCR in 1970 and continued to serve in the CAF until his retirement.

It is with sad hearts that the family of Wayne Herbert Cardinal announce his passing at the Dr Everett Chalmers Hospital on July 9th, 2018 at the age of 73. Born in Perth Ontario, he was a son of the late Arthur and Mary (Powers) Cardinal.
Wayne was extremely proud of his military career, spending time in the Black Watch and 2RCR. He enjoyed watching hockey, going Hunting and fishing. He dedicated many weekends as an instructor for the Hunter Safety Course.
Wayne will be deeply missed by his wife of 51 years, Donna, sons, Gary (Mindy) and Troy (Susie DeGrace), granddaughter Soraya and step-granddaughter Marion Gauthier. Brothers and sister, Harold, Oliver (Anne), Babe and Ken (Judith) and his trustee dogs, Riley and Hunter as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son Kendall, brothers and sister Ernie, Michael and Lorna.
Visitation will be held from Bishops Funeral Home on Thursday July 12, 2018 from 1-3 PM. Funeral service will be held at 3 PM on Thursday in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in the Fredericton Rural Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in memory of Wayne may be made to the Ducks Unlimited or the Lung Association.
