Regret to report the passing of Gary Coffee last Sunday in Halifax.
Gary graduated from The Black Watch Depot with 153 Squad and was posted to our 2nd Battalion. With 2RHC he served in Gagetown, Cyprus (1966 – ‘A’ Company and 1969/70 – ‘D’ Company).
Note: Funeral service tomorrow (9 August) afternoon in Cole Harbour, NS.

GARY JOHN COFFEY
6/29/1947 - 8/5/2018
COFFEY, Gary John, age 71 of Cole Harbour, passed away August 5, 2018 at the QEII VG Site 7A. Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late James and Helen (Marriott) Coffey. Gary joined the Canadian Forces Military in 1964, serving as a proud member of the Blackwatch, having served at Gagetown, Oromocto, NB He then remustered to Canadian Forces Postal Corps in 1978, serving at CFB Halifax and CFB Esquimalt. Gary served in several UN Peacekeeping Tours of Duty – including 3 tours in Cyprus, the Golan Heights and the 1st Gulf War. Upon retirement from the Canadian Armed Forces in 1992, he then joined the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires, serving for 22 years until retirement in 2016. Survived by wife of 46 years: Juanita (Rhodenizer); sons: Paul (Erin) of Saskatoon, SK, and Chris of MB; 5 grandchildren; sister: Donna (Cecil) Poole. Predeceased by son Blair, brother: James, Douglas and sisters: Helen and Patricia (Williams). Gary loved camping, good friends, family cards, darts and dogs. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Cole Harbour Funeral Home on Thursday August 9th at 1:00 pm followed by a memorial service at 2:00 pm with Rev. James Haughn officiating. Burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Lower Sackville. Special thanks to paramedics and staff of QEII hospital and palliative care.
