Regret to report the passing of George (Desi) Desjardins yesterday in New Glasgow.
George served with our 2nd Battalion in Gagetown and Cyprus – initially in ‘C’ Company and later in Headquarters Company.
Note: Memorial service on Thursday in New Glasgow.

George Desjardins
1938-2019
George Michael Desjardins, age 80, of Trenton, passed away Monday, January 14, 2019, in the Aberdeen Hospital. Born in Cornwall, Ontario, he was a son of the late Merile and Eva (Piette) Desjardins. He served in the Canadian Army with the Black Watch. He was retired from Michelin Tire. He was a member of the former Christ the King Roman Catholic Church, Trenton and attended Christ Anglican Church, Stellarton; member of Royal Canadian Legion Br. 34, New Glasgow; past president of the Flashing Blades Figure Skating Club, Trenton; involved with Boy Scouts; member of Air Cadets in younger years; enjoyed woodworking; very involved in genealogy until 2 years ago. He was a devoted family man to his kids and grandkids. He is survived by a daughter, Joelle (Wayne) Pelrine, Trenton; sons: Gerald (Heather Delong), Scotch Hill; Andre (Amanda Phillips), New Glasgow; grandchildren: Courtney (Jeff Park), Anthony; great grandson, Brody; sisters: Muriel (Joseph) Pond, Cornwall, ON; Yvonne, Alberta; brothers: Arnold, St. Catherine’s, ON; Cleonide, Quebec. He was predeceased by his wife, Joan (Atkins); sons: Douglas and David; brother, Leo.
There will be no visitation. Funeral service 11 am Thursday, in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home Chapel, 55 Almont Ave., New Glasgow, with Rev. Darlene Jewers officiating. Reception to follow. Burial will be at a later date in Christ the King Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
