Regret to report the passing of Butch McQuade yesterday in Halifax.
Butch graduated from RHC Depot with 120 Squad in July 1961 and from there was posted to our Second Battalion, ‘B’ Company, with whom he served in Gagetown, Germany and Cyprus (1966 and 1969/70).

Walter Joseph McQuade
January 02, 1942 - November 13, 2019
January 2, 1942 - November 13, 2019, passed away peacefully in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII in the presence of loved ones on November 13th at the age of 77. Walter was born in Halifax to the late Ellen (Wilson) and Ferdinand McQuade. He was married for over 55 years to Kathleen "Kay". He was a proud Infantry soldier from the Black Watch and continued to have a special bond with his former buddies and spouses. They always looked forward to attending functions, especially the Black Watch Reunion every two years. He was also employed for many years in the automobile industry. He is survived by his sons, Randy (Bernadette) and Troy (Cathy); daughter-in-law, Nancy; sisters-in-law, Edythe and Mary; seven grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; wife, "Kay", and son, Shawn. Dad enjoyed travelling, and spent several winters in Florida. He was an avid supporter of all minor sports. He travelled extensively attending family sporting events over the years.
Graveside Service only to take place in Mount Olivet Cemetery, 7071-7075 Mumford Rd., Halifax at 2 p.m. Monday, November 18th. A reception to follow in the family home. Online condolences can be made at:
