Peacefully at Billings Court Manor, Burlington on Tuesday, February 10, 2009, John of Burlington, formerly of Montreal and born in Glasgow, Scotland, in his 89th year. Beloved husband of the late Morfydd (nee Morgan). Loving father of Myfanwy Burbidge of Burlington, Neil Gibson (Karen) of Georgetown, and Huw Gibson (Anne) of Alberta. Cherished grandfather of Gavin Burbidge, Meredith Burbidge (Dan Saraga), the late Jeremy Burbidge, Phillip Gibson (Rhonda Landsfried), Andrew, John, Megan, and Emily Gibson. Dear brother of Mary Therriault and Jean Rollo. Predeceased by his brother Jim Gibson and sister Phyllis Gibson. John was a veteran of WWII and a long time officer of the Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) of Canada. He was a founding officer of the Black Watch Cadet Corps in Montreal and served as the commanding officer from 1958 to 1970 and from 1972 to 1974. He was a former member of the Montreal Welsh Male Choir, the Canadian Orpheus Male Choir and the Burlington Welsh Male Choir. A Service of Remembrance will be held at St. Luke’s Anglican Church, 1371 Elgin Street, Burlington on Friday, February 20, 2009 at 1 p.m. I In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
