Regret to report the passing of ‘Snick’ Van Snick on Thursday in Shediac, NB.
Snick joined the Army Reserve’s North Nova Scotia Highlanders in 1953 and the Regular Force’s Second Battalion, The Black Watch of Canada when it returned from Korea in 1954. He was released in September 1956 on medical grounds.

1937 – 2020
Robert J. (Snick) Van Snick, 83, of Shediac, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 8th, 2020 at the Villa Providence, Shediac NB. Born in Joggins Mine NS, he was the son of the late Georges and Mabel (Comeau) Van Snick.
He is survived by his spouse, Josephine Vandenburghe; his two daughters: Patricia Price (Peter) of Moncton and Christina Pellerin (Bobby) of North Carolina US; his three sons: Joel (Linda) of Ottawa, Steven (Susan) of Moncton and Christopher (Angie) of Pointe–du–Chêne; his sisters and brothers: Joan, Catherine, Grace Ann, Rose Marie, Louis, Roger and a foster brother, Edward Cormier (Jeannie McCully); 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and the mother of his children, Sarah.
Robert was predeceased by his sisters and brothers: Genevie, George Jr., Howard, Peter, Kenneth–Burnell, infant child, Bobby and granddaughter, Amanda.
In memory of Robert, a contribution to the Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick or to the Villa Providence Shediac would be appreciated.
Considering the current Coronavirus pandemic and at the request of the family, visitation and funeral will be held at a later date.
Cremation and funeral arrangements are under the direction of Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, Shediac (532–3297).
