Regret to report the passing of Ron Aquino in Kingston, Ontario on 10 October.
Ron arrived in Camp Aldershot in 1957 as a sergeant fresh from the Canadian Guards now posted to our Second Battalion RHC. On arrival, he was assigned to ‘B’ Company to become the platoon sergeant of 5 Platoon. He remained with 2RHC when it re-located to Camp Gagetown in 1958, then to West Germany in 1962, then back to Gagetown in 1965 and then to sunny Cyprus in 1966 by which time he had been promoted to WO2/MWO. Ron subsequently re-badged to, and was commissioned in, The Royal Canadian Regiment.

Passed away peacefully at Fairmount Home on October 10, 2022, in his 92nd year. He is survived by his son, Manuel, daughter-in-law, Nicola [the daughter he never had], grandsons Anthony and Patrick, and sister Rita McAlpine. Predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Anneliese, and his sister Carolina McLellan. Cremation has taken place; interment at Glenhaven Memorial Gardens at a later date.
