Regret to report the passing of Herb Mortimer 0n 6 January 2023 In Fredericton, NB. Herb Served with our First Battalion, The Black Watch RHC in CFB Gagetown and Cyprus.
Herbert Victor Mortimer
The family are saddened to announce that Herbert Victor Mortimer passed away at the Dr Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton, NB, on Friday, January 6, 2023. Born on May 17, 1945 in Saint John, NB, he was the son of the late Herbert Sr and Margaret (Logan) Mortimer.
Herb joined the military at age 16, and enjoyed his career throughout his time with them. After the Black Watch was disbanded, he retired from the military and began his transport career with Canadian Freightways. Upon retiring around 2010, he was able to enjoy his time with his family or, when not with them. At Tim Horton’s.
Herb will be dearly missed by his wife, partner, and best friend for over 65 years, Mary; daughters, Vickie (Rodney) and Betty (Robert); grandchildren, Michael Mortimer, Jennifer Tyndall, Shawn Campagne, and Christopher Campagne; he would have loved meeting his great grandchildren coming at the end of the summer; he will be missed by his special nephew, Brian, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Herb was predeceased by his infant daughter, Donna Marie, and his sister, Betty Wharton.
In accordance with Herb’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service at this time. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Herb’s name to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
