Black Watch friends:

Regret to report the passing of John Patterson this past week in Saint John, NB.
John served with our Second Battalion, The Black Watch RHC in Korea and was a long-time member of The Black Watch RHC Association’s Atlantic Branch..

J.A. (John) PATTERSON

The family of John Alvin Patterson sorrowfully announce his peaceful passing which occurred on March 1, 2023, surrounded by his family, after a brief stay at Ridgewood Veterans Wing. John was the son of the late Armond and Vina (Veniot) Patterson.
John was a proud member of the New Brunswick Scottish Piper Band, becoming a member in 1948, and played the drums. He also instructed the Heather Pipe Band, where he taught others to play the drums.
He joined in active duty with the Canadian Armed Forces on a peacekeeping mission with the Second Battalion in Korea with the Black Watch. John also participated in the Edinburgh Tattoo 1955.
After his time in the Canadian Armed Forces, John worked for the City of Saint John for 27 years in Parks and Recreation. He enjoyed his retirement by spending winters in the South and spending time at his home on the lake. John and Yvonne loved rowing on the lake, fly fishing, gardening and would enjoy each day immensely.
He is survived by his wife Yvonne (Myers), daughters Kim, Beth, Lori, son John and brother James. His legacy leaves behind 14 loving grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
