OICKLE, Perley Lester — 73, of Kingston, died suddenly Wednesday, August 5, 2009, as the result of a motor vehicle accident. Born in Middleton, he was a son of Myrtle (Robar) Oickle, Annapolis Royal and the late Lester.
Oickle. At a young age, Perley joined the Canadian Army, first with the West Nova Scotia Regiment, transferred to the Black Watch and later with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corp, retiring after 35 years of service. Following retirement from regular service, he spent a number of years in the Reserves. He was later superintendent of Lincolnshire Apartments in Kingston.
Perley was a member of Branch No. 98 Royal Canadian Legion, Kingston. Surviving besides his mother are daughters, Karen Oickle, Bridgewater and Tammy (Trevor) Ramsdale, Kingston; sons, Kevin Oickle, Greenwood; Blaine Oickle, Calgary and Ashley Oickle, Edmonton; brother, Delbert Robar, Toronto; grandchildren, Mindy, Garrett, Cody and Cassandra; great-grandchildren, Izaak, Zacari and Noah. Perley was predeceased by son, Brian and brother, Danny.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, August 9th, in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 8 25-3448, where Kingston Branch No. 98 Royal Canadian Legion will conduct their service at 6:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, August 10th, in St. Monica’s Roman Catholic Church, Middleton, Father Gerald Saulnier officiating assisted by Rev. Deacon Don Boudreau. Interment will be in Nictaux Cemetery. By request family flowers only, donations in memory may be made to Canadian Diabetes Association or to a charity of choice.
