Regret to notify you of passing last month of Elwood Astle who served with 2nd Battalion RHC in Gagetown, Germany and Cyprus ’66.

Elwood Johnson Astle
1944-2010
It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of Elwood Astle after a brave battle with pancreatic cancer on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born in Blissfield, NB on March 7, 1944 he was the son of the late Harry and Alice (Johnson) Astles.
He is survived by his three daughters, Debbie Hammond (George) of Ottawa, ON, Lorri Comeau (Tony DeGiobbi) of Halifax, NS and Jennifer Power (Dave) of Nanaimo, BC; four grandchildren, Ryan, Justin, Brittany and Ashley; three brothers, Shirley (Sharon), Dale and Tony (Amy); three sisters, Ruth Coffey, Pat Champagne (David) and Cindy Pineault (Derrick) all of Fredericton, NB as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at McAdam’s Funeral Home, 160 York Street (458-9170) on Friday, March 12, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4 will hold a tribute at 7 pm. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 2:00 pm in the J. A. McAdam Memorial Chapel. Rev. Gil MacKenzie officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in the Sunny Bank Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes in Elwood’s name may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
