Obituary
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Neil Dearing, 70 of Glace Bay on March 30,2011 at the Glace Bay Healthcare Facility.
Born in Glace Bay, Neil was the son of the late Jack and Catherine 'Katie' (MacLeod) Dearing. He wa the last surviving member of his family.
Before returning to Glace Bay, Neil was employed with the city of Toronto for 20 years. He was a member of the Canadian Armed Forces, having served in Germany.
Neil is survived by his daughters; Carrie- Lynn, Cheryl and granddaughter, Taylor of Halifax. He will also be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews, especially, Dorothy Smith and Sheila Gardiner.
Neil was predeceased by his wife Carol MacKay in 2008, brother John and sisters, Catherine (Steele) and Lillian (Smith). He was also predeceased by his companion, Dolly Miller in 2009.
Neil cherished his many friends, especially Brent Burke and Bert Donovan.
The family would like to thank Dr. Paul Rebelo and the nursing staff in the ICU for their genuine care and support.
There will be no visitation and cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Patten Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 4,2011 in Patten Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 pm with Fr. Leo Boone officiating. Interment will follow in St. Leo's Parish Cemetery.
There will be a reception at Dooley's following the service.
