The family or Angus George Grant Senior born February 17th, 1936 are saddened to announce his passing at his Blissfield home on May 18, 2011. Beloved Husband of Verna Grant, one of eleven children of John and Agnes Grant of Scotchtown Cape Breton, NS.
Angus served in the Canadian Military for 27 1/2 yrs as a member of the Black Watch and 2RCR in Germany, Cypress and Gagetown NB. A highly respected member of the Canadian Legion, serving as president of both Oromocto Branch # 93 and Doaktown Branch # 23 and as district commander of the Northumberland /Kent County.
Angus liked to play Bingo and Dart’s, watch hockey and baseball on T.V. was an avid cribbage player. He loved to socialize and greet old friends and meet new ones. Angus was known to many far and wide and found old friends or made new ones wherever he traveled.
Angus will be missed by all including his wife of 30 yrs Verna of Blissfield, NB, only daughter Virginia Grant-Smith (Murray) of Burton, three sons, Angus George Jr. (Angela) of Geary, NB, Kenny of Halifax, NS and Gary (Theresa) of Lincoln, NB, and many grand and great grandchildren, surviving siblings, Joan (Joe) Cianiola of Connecticut, USA, Agnes (Ed) Wilson of BC, Maureen (Roy) McLean of Cape Breton, Cecilia (Jerry) MacNeil of Cape Breton, William (Irene) Grant of Halifax, Keith (Paula) Grant of Ottawa, John (Pat) Grant of Virginia Beach and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by three sisters, Elizabeth, Mary and Helen.
The family will meet with relatives and friends at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 23, Doaktown on Sunday, May 22, 2011 from 2-6 from where the funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Andrew Fraser officiating. In Angus memory donations to Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 23, Doaktown or NB Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
