Haylow, James Basil of St. Thomas, passed away on Monday, August 29th, 2011, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, peacefully, in his 88th year. Beloved husband of Phyllis (Robins) Haylow and dearly loved father of Judy (Jim) Gilmore, St. Thomas, Janice (late Don) Speers of Kitchener, Kathleen (Brian) Thomson of Bracebridge, John (Margaret) Haylow of Bracebridge and Karen Haylow of Listowel. Predeceased by an infant daughter Katherine. Much loved grandfather of Lisa (Bruce), Sean, Jason, Alicia, Emily, Erin, Peter, Anna, Maria, Elizabeth, Rebecca and Meghan and great grandfather of Clark and Blair. Dear brother of Teresa Keelan of Windsor. Predeceased by 3 sisters, Anna Leddy, Margaret Butler and Agnes Gilmour and by a brother Wilfrid Haylow. Sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews. Jim was born in Eastwood Ontario on December 27th, 1923, the son of the late James D. and Helen E. (McMahon) Haylow. He was retired from Ontario Hydro. Jim served overseas during W.W.II with Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment). He was a member of Branch 41 of the Royal Canadian Legion. He was a long time member of Holy Angel’s Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Jim was a member of the Belmont Golf Club.

Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas until Thursday morning and then to Holy Angels’ Church where Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Holy Angels’ Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Prayers will be recited at the funeral home on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. Remembrances may be made to the Holy Angels’ Church Restoration Fund or charity of choice.
