Gene graduated from RHC Depot in 1959 with 90 Squad and subsequently served with 1st Battalion in Germany.

Gene William McAuley
(February 24, 1939 - December 16, 2011)
McAULEY, Gene William – 72, of Sandford, Yarmouth Co., passed away at home on December 16, 2011. Born February 24, 1939 in Digby, he was a son of the late Leo and Agnes Jane (Amiro) McAuley. Gene served a term in The Black Watch. He began his working life as the foreman for the fish plant in Short Beach, Yarmouth Co., where he worked for 20 years. He later worked at Yarmouth Regional Hospital for another 20 years. Gene was a loving husband, father, grandfather and will be missed by wife of 49 years, Rosilda “Rose” (Deveau); daughters, Collette (Tim) Andrew, Grand Lake, Halifax Co.; Nicole McAuley, Sandford; sons, David (Sue) McAuley, Pleasant Lake; Roger McAuley, Sandford; Mark McAuley, Lake Doucette; brothers, David (Connie) McAuley, Short Beach; Rod (Judy) McAuley, Oregon; Robert McAuley, Short Beach; sister, June Deveau, Wellington, Yarmouth Co.; grandchildren, Leo, Thomas and Ira McAuley; Alexandra Andrew. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home & Crematorium, Yarmouth. A private family service will take place at a later date. Interment will follow in St. Vincent De Paul Parish Cemetery. Donations in Gene’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia. On-line condolences may be sent to:
