I was really excited about this new book being released on the Black Watch and told my wife to get it for me at Xmas. The marketing stated all the names of past members are in it and it would be nice to show it to my grandchildern as I joined on 10 June 1968 and I was in the last squad to go thru the Black Watch Depot Squad 187.I thought at least this event would be part of the past history. After Depot I was a member of A Coy 1St Bn.
Well my excitement soon turned to disappointment. I received the book and my name was omitted and well as an entry as to the last squad in Gagetown.
To me there seems to be no excuse to have any names omitted as I am sure all the Depot records of each Squad must have been kept.
I guess this is called water under the bridge,However I am enjoying the book anyway.
Thanks for an avenue to vent my fustrations at the editor.
R.C. Gallant(Bob).

Hey Bob, don't give up yet. With respect to the records, the agent Orange issue demonstrates that many of the records kept before computers are crap or simply lost. I found a bunch of photos of the 1st battalion Cyprus 67/68 and when I get them scanned I'll send them to the Association. If enough others contribute whatever they can find maybe there will be enough material for an updated version of the book with your information in it. See if you can find an address or something in the book that accepts new information and get your facts to that address. I'm told the guy that put the book together apparently lives on the east coast but the name in the book is not his real name.

Hey! If you post a picture, put the names in too! None of these guys looked like this 40 years ago. Well ..........most of them didn't.

Lots of names are missing as i would imagine because they could not find some of the old nominal rolls. Some of the guys that i was with in Germany in 63-64 are not mentioned either. To Bob Gallant a small hello from someone who was in 187 for a short period of time as i had to do a refresher course when I re joined in 68. I have my doubts that you would remember me. You all named me Pop as I was the oldest of the Squad. I was the one who screwed up your drill test as you all were learning that new drill movement crap and I was doing the old bring them up and slam them down. I also marched you guys to the drill hall one night for some drill as we had failed the drill test. I believe that was on a Wed or Thur night and we were to have another test on Fri or Sat morning. Luck was with me and your squad for the test as the RSM informed me to pack up and move to the Battalion.

Woody:
We are continuing to add names to the list in the book and that list will reside in the Regimental museum in Montreal as well as the Gagetown museum.
Please send me the names of anyone that you know we have missed - with initials, first name, nick name, and regimental number if possible.
In the event that a second edition of the book is published, the list in it will be updated as well.
Thanks,
Chuck

Art:
You can send any items to me.
I will add names to list and provide it to Regimental and Gagetown museums as well as add them to a new list for a second edition in case the publisher decides to reprint the book.
If you have pictures you can send them to me as well. We will get them scanned and sent to both museums. Hopefully, some day you will be able to view them, along with the hundreds already scanned, on-line through the museum.
Webmaster can provide you my address.
I assume you are A.R. Linton #628. Can you send me your Regimental ('S' number for the roll please.
Slainte,
Chuck

Bob:
Appreciate your disappointment but I can assure you that we were NOT able to find very many Depot squad records. Most of the names from those squads came from the squad photos but not all the squad photos had names. The latest Depot squad that we have a picture of is #177 so we are missing the last 10 squads' photos.

R.C. Gallant has now been added to list. You probably weren't assigned a regimental "S" number so would appreciate last six of your SIN - send it to webmaster for security. Would also appreciate your postal address. If you read my other responses you will know what we are planning.
