Regret to notify you of the death yesterday of Vonnie, wife of CWO (Ret.) Don Reekie.

Based on her wishes there will be no service however a memorial “social” function will be held in May.

(March 12, 1935 – March 25, 2009)

It is with great sadness that Don, Sharon and Brian Reekie announce the death of our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, after a short fight with cancer, on March 25, 2009 at Stony Plain, Alberta.

Vonnie is also survived by her son-in-law Carl and her grandchildren, Sarah and Eric Olsen, of Hammond, Ontario. She will be missed by her sisters-in-law Isobel White and Ann McKean of Collingwood, Ontario and Zoe Foster of Thornbury, Ontario and their families. She will also be remembered for her keen wit and kind heart by other family members and a host of friends from the military and horse communities across Canada and in the local area.

In accordance with Vonnie’s wishes, there will be no service at this time. A gathering of friends and family will be arranged at a later date to celebrate Vonnie’s life.

Our family would like to express our sincere thanks to the wonderful staff of the Westview Health Centre. In lieu of flowers, we would appreciate donations to the Westview Health Centre, Palliative Care, “Light Up Your Life”, 4405 Southpark Drive, Stony Plain, Alberta, T7Z 2M7.
