Gérard (Gerry) Poirier

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Gérard (Gerry) Poirier on September 21 2009. He was survived by his beloved wife of 65 years Joan, his children Carol, Martin (Catherine), Gerry (Vicki), Barbara (Yves), Christine, Sylvia (Mathias) and Cynthia (Paul), 11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and his cousins, nephews and nieces and many other family members and friends. A sports enthusiast throughout his life, Gerry was a Canadian canoeing champion in 1938, a Junior and Canadian Army hockey player, tennis player and golfer. He served in The Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) of Canada from 1939 to 1945. Visitations will be on Thursday, September 24 2009 from 19:00 to 21:00 hrs. The funeral service will be on Friday, September 25 at 11:00 hrs at Collins Clarke MacGillivray White Funeral Home, 5610 Sherbrooke West, corner of Marcil ave. Burial of the ashes will be at the National Honour Field in Pointe Claire 701 Donegani Ave, Pointe-Claire, QC on February 25, 2009 at 12:15 hrs. Donations in memory of Gerry to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.
