Frank Symonds was my grandfather who served with the Blackwatch. I do not know much about his time with them, but I do know he was stationed in Germany in the 1950's. He was a strong and stubborn man, and he sadly passed away on October 29th, 2010, in his sleep.
He would tell me when he was in Germany, he tried to run away and kept getting caught. It would be like him to do such a thing, and never learn his lesson. He was a proud man, and loved his family, and his friends. His faded Blackwatch tattoo on his arm is always something I'll remember. If anyone knows him, or thinks they did, please contact me through email.

He was from Cape Sable Island, Nova Scotia. He was described as a man with bear hands, a big heart, and a huge smile all the time, regardless of what life threw at him. I thank him for everything he did, and all of you reading who have served.
