WOOD, LIEUTENANT WILLIAM McKENZIE 11 Years, 10 Months ago
The following obit will be published in near future. I believe the funeral service is being planned for August.

William McKenzie (Bill) Wood
March 17, 1922 – June 22, 2012

World War II veteran, diplomat and great Canadian patriot, William McKenzie (Bill) Wood passed away at the age of 90. Will be dearly missed by his extended family in Canada and abroad. Born in Montreal, educated at Upper Canada College and McGill University. At 21 was an officer in the Black Watch (RHR) of Canada, served in North West Europe Campaign, survived the Verrières Ridge battle in Normandy, was captured in Belgium and POW in Germany. After the War called to the Quebec Bar, studied economics at Cambridge and French at the Sorbonne. Mr. Wood began a distinguished diplomatic career joining the Department of External Affairs in 1949, serving in Athens, Tel-Aviv, Paris, Port-au-Prince, and Kinshasa where he was Ambassador as well as on the Canadian Delegation to the International Control Commission during the war in Vietnam. He was a member of the University Club in Montreal and a life member of the Royal Ottawa Golf Club and of the former Seigniory Club in Montebello. Grateful thanks to the Ottawa General Hospital staff by his devoted wife of 57 years, Ismene Wood (nee Marcos) and loving family including their son Anthony (Claudia Johnson), daughter Alexandra, and grandchildren Nicolas, Sophia and Brian. A private interment will take place at the Beechwood Cemetery and a funeral service will be arranged at a later date. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations in memory of Bill Wood would be welcomed by the Black Watch of Canada Foundation or you may wish to benefit an organization of your choice. Online tributes may be made at beechwood.permavita.com/siteContent/memo...9&source=memlist
